3 Elegant Holiday Tables

By Maria Hieber 11.23.20

Your holiday table is the focal point of your celebration, so it should look the part. Here are three ways to transform your dinner table into a festive winter wonderland.

Winter Forest

For a wintry woodland theme, you’ll need a selection of winter foliage from a flower shop. Or you can opt for faux greenery from your local craft store.

Materials:

  • Decorative forest elements might include:
  • Mistletoe
  • Fir tree branches
  • Bundles of eucalyptus
  • Branches of holly
  • Pine cones
  • Frosted garlands
  • Pomegranates
  • Wooden forest animal figurines
  • String lights

Method:

Arrange your winter greens in layers as the centerpiece of your table. Placing your branches directly on your table and letting the leaves lie naturally between plates, will create a more natural feel. Distribute color and dimension evenly. Incorporating branches of holly or dotting the edges with whole pomegranates will give a nice color contrast and create a softer, circular balance between the linear branches. Adorn your woodland holiday table with pine cones and wooden decorative figurines of forest animals. Finally, intertwine the arrangement with loose Christmas lights to give it a warm glow.

Glowing Fruit Bowl Centerpiece

Create a cozy glow in your home with this bright, cheerful centerpiece for your table.

Materials:

  • A fruit bowl
  • A selection of winter fruits
  • Faux pine branches
  • Tealight candles

Method:

Start with your favorite fruit bowl — wooden, decorative silver, and frosted-glass bowls work beautifully. Arrange your largest and firmest fruit first, such as pomegranates, apples, and grapefruits, to avoid bruising. Then add your favorite winter fruits, such as pears, cherries, figs, and green grapes. Place them carefully to ensure balance of shape and color. Add a warm, golden glow to your centerpiece by surrounding it with tealight candles of varying sizes.

Pinecones and Ornaments

This holiday table is a simple yet elegant way to add some festive cheer to your dining room.

Materials:

  • Pine cones
  • A selection of glass ornaments

Method:

Arrange a mix of ornaments and pinecones to give your holiday table a wintry feel. Place the centerpiece under your dining room lighting so that your ornaments will shine brightly.
