MINNEAPOLIS - Looking for a location to settle down and start your family? One study says it doesn't get much better than the land of 10,000 lakes.

A new study by WalletHub puts Minnesota right behind Massachusetts as the second best state to raise a family.

The study compared all 50 states on 42 key indicators of family-friendliness -- median family salary, housing affordability, unemployment rate, "family fun," education, health, safety and more.

In response to the study, Gov. Mark Dayton released a statement, praising the offerings of the state for the high ranking.

“Minnesota’s great schools, excellent quality of life, and good work opportunities are some of the reasons why we have been rated the second best state for families,” he said. “But the report got one thing wrong: no other state holds a candle to Minnesota!”

The state ranked in the top 20 for many of the key indicators, such as health and safety and low percentage of divorce. In terms of highest median family salary, Minnesota ranks No. 1.

The full ranking and findings can be found here.
